What is a prosthodontist

A prosthodontist is specialized and practicing exclusively towards the prosthodontic rehabilitation of his patients. That includes comprehensive treatment planning for complicated cases, and the coordination of all dental specialties included in the treatment plan.

As prosthodontic treatment we could include any procedure, involving the introduction of a foreign material (amalgam, porcelain etc.) in the mouth. That could vary from a simple crown or bridge, a removable partial or full denture or the most complicated implant prostheses.

Also any dental esthetic-procedure (such as whitening, or porcelain veneers) is incorporated in the treatment plan if this is desired by the patient or necessary to obtain an optimum esthetic and functional result.
